Description and Why EWG?

We are a retailer for all ATP EWG (externally gated) turbo products, this allows us to offer you BOLT ON turbos kits packaged with tunes resulting in big savings for your big turbo projects! Each ATP EWG turbo kit also comes with a complimentary Stratified Custom Tune!

External wastegates sound great - but they also offer several performance benefits. The larger gates are more effective at controlling boost under steady throttle as well as during transients such as when shifting. They help the turbo spool faster and reduce boost oscillations or inconsistencies. It is recommend to run an externally gated turbo if your boost levels routinely exceed 27psi.

Further to this, diverting the wastegated gases away from the turbine flow stream coming from the turbo reduces pumping losses and lessens backpressure.

Be aware that when the gate opens the wasted exhaust is diverted via a 3P EWG dump tube below the front subframe of the car. Most hot pipes fit with this EWG dump tube but you must ensure this is the case on your vehicle. Please use the photo below as a reference.

 

G25 Turbo Additional Info

- These turbos compare well to the Gen2 GTX2867 and Gen2 GTX3071 making them excellent choices for the 2.0 EB engine.

- Turbine wheel is similar to GTX28 series in terms of size but flows 20% more and is more efficient.

- 0.72 and 0.92 A/R. The smaller 0.72 A/R flows 25% more than the 0.64 A/R of the GTX28 and 10% less than 0.72 AR GTX3071.

- The 660 has similar flow compressor to a GTX3071 but similar size wheels to GTX2867.

- The 550 has similar flow compressor to GTX2867 but similar size wheel to GTX2860.

- The surge line of the 550 is similar to Gen2 GTX2867 and 660 similar to a Gen2 GTX3071. These turbo should not surge on the 2.0 EB motor.

- The G25-550 with the 0.72 A/R should flow better up top than a Gen2 GTX2867 0.64 with similar or even better spool. The A/R is larger but shaft speed is higher and turbine efficiency is higher. We estimate this turbo to be good for up to 450whp at around 28-30psi of boost and spool to 20psi by 3200-3300 in 4th gear.

- The 660 with 0.72 A/R will flow the same as a Gen2 GTX3071 but with smaller wheels and higher shaft speed will be faster to spool than a Gen2 GTX3071 so we should see 20psi around 3800 RPM in 4th gear. Power potential will be 520-540whp at around 32-34psi of boost.
 
- The 0.92 A/R on the G25 turbos will slow spool by 300-400 RPM. The drop in back pressure will allow an additional 20-30whp.

    I wouldn’t have bought this turbo from anywhere else I know stratified will make things right and will always have the right answers and feedback, it was shipped really fast and got my car tuned in a timely manor of perfection I will definitely be buying the rest of the parts for my build from them, thank you stratified team
